Liam started playing guitar just short of his 12th birthday in 1994 after being shown a few chords by his school maintenance technician, having owned a guitar since his 3rd birthday, wanting to be able to play it and never knowing or being shown how to play it properly. A few months later, after progressing very fast he formed a thrash metal band at school called “Vanadium” with new school friend Ken Carlson also on guitar. Straight after leaving school in 1999 he teamed up with Ken again to form post hardcore band “Formula For Failure”. After a couple more years, tired with the bands musical direction and wanting return to a more modern thrash/hardcore direction Liam and Ken formed “Death in Blood” in 2002, initially with Liam on drums due to no one in the area being able to play drums fast enough for the material and finally moved over to lead guitar in late 2003. In February 2005 Liam was approached by Glenn Howes (Tygers of Pan Tang, Blitzkrieg, Avenger) after a recommendation from Brian Ross (Satan, Blitzkrieg, Avenger) to audition to join NWOBHM band Avenger, where Liam still plays to this day. In 2006, Huw Holding joined the Avenger ranks on bass guitar, shortly followed by Sean Jefferies on guitar. Death in Blood called it a day in 2011 after one final gig supporting the mighty Sepultura on their UK tour. In 2012, Huw suggested the idea of starting a new Iron Maiden tribute band built from the ashes of Maiden England, which he was a member of at the time, to Sean and Liam and Maiden UK was born. In 2019, Liam joined Higher-On Maiden and shortly after the two bands merged. Liam’s roots are firmly based in 80’s hair metal, hard rock, classic metal and thrash metal after progressing from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’ rock music his parents introduced him to at a very young age.
